STD Testing Nearby

Getting tested for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is an important part of staying healthy. STIs can be serious health problems if not treated early.

To find out if you have an STI, your doctor may collect swabs, blood, or urine samples. This may be done at a sexual health clinic or a primary care doctor’s office.

Manhattan

If you’re looking for a convenient and affordable option to get tested for STDs in Manhattan, Statcare offers fast, discreet, and accurate testing that you can access anytime. Our urgent care centers are staffed by qualified professionals who understand your needs and concerns.

Many sexually active people fear acquiring HIV, but there are a variety of other STDs that pose a threat. For instance, gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia are all dangerous and can cause complications in both partners.

To get tested, you need to collect a fluid sample from the site of infection. This could be from the vagina, penis, cervix, urethra, or throat.

While Manhattan College’s health services website does not specifically state that they offer STD testing, they do provide many other on-campus resources for students to use. One of these is Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, which specializes in the LGBTQ community and provides testing and treatment for STIs. It is located on 18th Street.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County Public Health has a variety of STI testing locations throughout the city. Some of them are free and some require a small fee.

Tested + Rested, a nomadic monthly event series that seeks out populations that would not otherwise get tested, has filled in some of the void left behind by Tarrant County Public Health after it shuttered its Arlington testing site in March. The group’s latest event was held in Como Park, where attendees gathered around a tarot card reader and a glow-in-the-dark snack bar.

Although the focus of these events may be on putting a party in the park, Shae Neal, a patient navigator who works with low-income patients, said she’s concerned that people who need help aren’t aware that there are services available. She wants to see Tarrant County do more to make health care services more accessible.

New York City Department of Health

If you live in New York City, you can get screened for STDs at clinics, urgent care centers, or doctors’ offices. Some centers also offer walk-in testing, but you should make an appointment ahead of time to avoid long waits.

There are many different sexually transmitted diseases, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis. These infections are primarily asymptomatic, but they can be serious if left untreated.

Syphilis, one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, causes genital ulcers that are painless or can lead to rashes and other health complications. It is treated with antibiotics.

Getting tested is essential for those who have been exposed to unprotected sex. You can get tested for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and other diseases.

Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood offers a variety of healthcare services including sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing, treatment and prevention. They also offer birth control education and supplies, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing and counseling.

STD testing at Planned Parenthood typically involves urine or blood tests and/or cheek swabs. These are collected, processed and sent to the lab.

There are many other options for STD testing that are less expensive than Planned Parenthood. They include free or low-cost tests at community centers and student centers.

At-home testing kits are available from a variety of companies that can be purchased online. These kits can provide rapid lab-certified results without the need to go to a local laboratory.
